About Angels of Hope - Kenya.
Angels of Hope organization was born in 2008 and registered in 2011.However the organization has been in operation since 2008 in the rural
areas of Nyamira County(Girigiri-Kionyomo area)with the following
projects:
- Youth and Women groups mobilization
- Campaign for HIV/AIDS free society
- HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns
- Campaign for alcohol free society
- Mobilization for social development activities
- Anti-child labour campaigns and rights to education
- Living positively with HIV and AIDS
- Anti-stigma campaign for people living with HIV and AIDS
In 2011 April Angels of Hope School was opened for orphaned children as
well as children from the poor family backgrounds sheltered in temporary
structures hoping to find funds at a later time for permanent buildings.
Angels of hope provides orphans with:
- Free education, uniforms, and school materials such as books, pencils,
rubber etc.
- Free 10 o'clock and lunch meals
- Fully paid education trips to educational sites ( to be initiated soon)
- Free motivation awards for those with excellent performance( applicable
to all pupils including those with parents)
Among other school needs as they arise.
Angels of hope has 10 teaching staffs, 3 support staffs and an
administrator/school clerk.
Angels of Hope Organization has programmes for people living with HIV/AIDS
in some slums of Nairobi such as Matopeni/njiru/spring valley/umoja III
and Kayole in which case the organization only mobilizes these persons
involved to train and counsel them and provides porridge/tea in the middle
of the sessions for purposes of sustaining them through the teaching
sessions.
Angels of hope, hopes to find some sponsors to provide these vulnerable
persons with foodstuffs, clothing and school needs for their infected
children. There are two sessions (adults and children living with HIV)
every saturday of each month.
The organization collects used clothes from neighbours and friends to
distribute to these people when available in numbers. |
